Are you looking to join one of the market leaders in its field of manufacture? Ford and Stanley Ltd - the Rail Recruitment specialists are looking to appoint a Head of Quality to provide strategic leadership, direction and overall accountability for production quality at a major client.

You will work closely with other area managers and peers in Production, Test and Supplier Quality with overall responsibility for the production quality function at the Manufacturing site. The key focus of this role is championing a “working together” approach with other functional teams, particularly in production, test and supplier quality - delivering a collaborative work ethic in the team so that the quality needs of the manufacturing process/project are fully met.


  • Establishing a proactive, solution focused response approach so when quality issues are identified, the quality team respond in a positive/collaborative manner driven by the overall need to collectively resolve the issues to conclusion and avoid repeat issues
  • Strong leadership direction to a large Production Quality team made up of:
    • Production Quality Managers who head up train projects and manage teams of Production Quality engineers/section leaders
    • Section Leaders who lead teams of technicians and team members
    • Data Analysts
  • Leading the Quality Culture at the plant - coach and support production teams towards the achievement of required quality standards. Develop training events and activities that support a quality culture, employee involvement, engagement, improvement and leadership
  • Establishing effective working relationships and communication pathways with colleagues in Supply Chain and Supplier Quality functions, collaborating to deliver products into service
  • Working with peers, driving clear accountability to ensure that the support and service is provided through SQA to the team
  • Ensure the scope of supply is delivered to a consistent level of quality to meet the client and customer requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring the team have containment actions in place, then monitoring progress on rectifications, tracking status and reporting through a suite of KPI’s

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience of working in a Senior Production Quality level position for a complex manufacturing organisation
  • Experience of forging strong cross functional relationships with UK and global colleagues, working collaboratively with colleagues in production, TMC's and supply chain
  • Strong strategic leadership experience, evolving the function over time in response to changing business needs, overall site performance focused, communicating as a leader with effective team coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others, inspiring a large team, promoting a site wide Quality Culture and continuous improvement
