Quality Engineer (1 year contract)

Ford and Stanley - the Rail Recruitment specialists currently have an excellent opportunity for a Project Quality Engineer based in South Yorkshire on an initial 1 year contract - providing technical and leadership assistance to a specified Project team to achieve specific Quality and Performance objectives.

Role:

  • Co-ordination of the deployment and maturity of the Quality Plan for a Project (inc. T-minus process)
  • Co-ordination and timely resolution of quality issues identified within the project area (External - HRR/NIR, Internal – Repeat errors on station within production)
  • Act as the interface between quality functional resources (inc. supplier quality) required to support the project
  • Produce as required reports on progress within the project
  • Provide a level of Quality support to other functions within the project
  • Provide support to the Project Managers on the Inter-face with customers on quality topics
  • Contribute to CI Initiatives to meet all Project Objectives
  • Proactively drive Improvement in customer perception
  • Develop and maintain KPI’s to monitor Quality performance of the project
  • Co-ordinate a Material Review Board meeting weekly to deal with any non-conforming parts
  • Manage a team of QC Inspectors

Essential skills:

  • Educated in an engineering discipline
  • ISO 9000 and process audit trained with a working knowledge of Quality systems
  • Structured Problem solving, SPC techniques and measurement methods
  • Experience gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment preferably involving Lean and 6 sigma Manufacturing applications
  • Proven track record of projects work, inc. dealing with third party suppliers
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
