Lead Recruitment Consultant – Railway Infrastructure & Construction

Introduction to the position:

As part of a wider Talent Services Group, Ford & Stanley Recruitment are a £13 million turnover business looking for a Lead Recruitment Consultant who can drive growth in our Railway Infrastructure, Property & Construction Division from our Birmingham Office


With a desk view of Birmingham Grand Central Station and in a modern office environment, the Lead Consultant will join an existing Senior Recruitment Consultant and Site Managed Services Recruitment Consultant, yet, will independently and in partnership with the Group Client Development Manager and Company Directors, drive the growth and expansion of Ford & Stanley’s presence within Railway Infrastructure, Construction & Property from within the second city.

We are keen to secure an experienced Recruitment Consultant to take a leading and influential position that will ultimately build a team underneath them capable of establishing Ford & Stanley as a recognised leader within the sector.
It is anticipated that this hire will become “Business Head of Sector” within a 3-to-5 year time frame and in addition, there is further opportunity in the short – mid-term of becoming a location manager for the F&S Birmingham Operation. 


Measurements of Success / Objectives

  • Taking hold of local existing railway infrastructure, civils, construction and property client, developing/expanding relationships and increasing volume of work.
  • The position is a full billable head; therefore, it is expected that the appointed consultant will be conducting 360º recruitment activities. These include delivering against all client’s recruitment requirements, using all tools at their disposal (including utilisation of experienced Recruitment Resourcers).
  • Winning of new clients and relationships without the use of “cold calling.”
  • Working with the Senior Consultant to ensure branch performance against individual utilisation targets and branch KPI’s.

Skills and attributes required

  • Confident communicator – both verbally and in written format

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and confidence in learning further IT applications
  • Ability to spot commercial opportunities and link actions with likely outcomes
  • Sound business acumen and highly motivated to succeed

  • Utilise experience but also be willing to learn new ways of working


Essential experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ previous recruitment experience within Construction, Infrastructure, Property, Highways or Civils. 
  • Leadership of a recruitment team or ready to make the step into leadership
  • GCSE’s Maths & English A-C.



  • Level 3 NVQ in Business Management
  • Certificate in Recruitment Practice 
  • Degree educated
