Role and Responsibilities

Ford & Stanley, specialist rail recruiters, are looking to attract an experienced electrical engineer who wants the opportunity to get hands on with trains and to undertake the electrical engineering aspects of a number of high-profile rolling stock projects.

Recognised as an expert within your field, you will be required to produce technical reports, develop testing procedures and manage the resolution of emerging technical issues arising out of the application of electrical changes, therefore detailed knowledge of railway vehicle electrical systems and components is essential.

Job Purpose

  • To provide engineering support in line with the needs of the business, from a Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery perspective.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on rolling stock electrical engineering principles to the electrical engineering team.
  • Act as Designated Competent person in respect of High Voltage Installations on site
  • Review and produce approvals documentation in line with required rail standards.
  • Produce technical reports to capture engineering issues and findings.
  • Produce specifications, including but not limited to, working instructions, method statements, risk assessments, tasks and full documents.
  • Undertake peer reviews of other Engineers’ drawings and documents.
  • Review and recommend changes to company and customer specifications, drawings and proposals.
  • Produce designs, to include but not limited to, design layouts, engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Supporting production through the Production Query (PQ) process.
  • Ensure that electrical engineering activities are completed within agreed timescales and costs as agreed with the Engineering Director or Project Management.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced electrical engineer from a heavy engineering background.

Most importantly, the candidate must be willing to push themselves and others to get results, a positive can-do attitude is everything for my client and candidates should be able to talk through pieces of work that they have personally been responsible for delivering.

Desirable

BEng degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
