Mechanical Engineer (Lincolnshire)

£27,000 - £35,000 per annum

Ford & Stanley is looking to speak to mechanical engineers who will be interested in getting hands and dirty in solving technical problems on huge turbo generators in the shipping and power generation industries, delivering improved performance of the product and ultimately improving customer experience.

The Opportunity

With the potential to travel across the world, the mechanical engineer will assume a title of product support engineer and must have a working knowledge of 3D CAD modelling on top of their inquisitive mindset to ensure that my client is delivering an excellent product.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the creation of design solutions required to address issues/defects encountered with turbochargers in the field. This will include raising and completion of related technical documentation, business systems and drawings as applicable
  • Correct design solutions could involve visits to power plants or vessels
  • Produce illustrations of turbocharger schematics in support of technical publications, product manuals, illustrated parts lists, bulletins or other reports
  • Be able to attend internal and external meetings both with suppliers and customers
  • Be able to perform disassembly/assembly of turbochargers in support of issues, investigations or product validation, particularly with '8' Series and later products

The Candidate

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years in a Mechanical Design environment, using CAD tools for 3D modelling and 2D drafting
  • Be able to create/draft complex parts and required machining ops
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and analytical iterations
  • MS Office literate
  • Good creative and problem-solving abilities
  • Compile design documentation


  • NX proficient
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and technical product documentation specification BS8888
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good problem solver with the ability to suggest and implement appropriate design alternatives
  • Turbocharger design knowledge would be advantageous
