Principal Consultant / Technical Lead - Flood Risk (Birmingham)

The Opportunity 

Our client is a recognised organisation within the Infrastructure industry and is looking to establish itself within the water sector. The opportunity would be for someone from a hydrologist / flood risk engineering background who would be keen to support our client establish a presence within this sector and generate further opportunities, growing with the division as it gets stronger. 

We are looking for a Principal level engineer who has the prowess and passion for the industry who would be keen to progress themselves into a technical lead and drive something very exciting forward.

Responsibilities 

  • Working on environmental projects for public and some private sector clients
  • Negotiations with Local Authorities, Water Authorities, LLFAs and Environment Agency
  • Preparation of flood risk assessments for infrastructure, residential and commercial projects
  • Provision of technical lead role on projects involving modelling developing hydraulic model for various applications
  • Development of drainage concepts and strategies
  • Provision of drainage calculations using FEH, XP solutions and Micro Drainage
  • Experience of flood risk management techniques and methods
  • Management of projects and resources to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior modeller as the team continues to grow.
  • Delivering projects for key clients
  • Contribute to the development of the team
  • Have a knowledge of key contacts throughout the sector.

The Candidate

  • Relevant University Degree, preferably with CIWEM/ICE accreditation
  • Solid Modelling experience
  • Proficiency is using GIS software such as Map info/ArcGIS
  • Good supervising and leadership skills
  • Sound report writing and presentation skills
  • Experience of liaising with clients, stakeholders and managing Projects
  • Experience of flood risk management techniques and methods
