Railtex 2013

This year’s Railtex event was held at London’s Earls Court in early May and brought together over 400 exhibitors who demonstrated thousands of products and services specific to the rail industry. Rail Team Manager, Daniel Taylor and Client Services Manager, Holly Chaplin attended the event on Wednesday 1st May.

Railtex is the UK's leading rail event which brings together visitors and exhibitors alike to see the latest technology, learn about new products/services and meet fellow industry professionals. The event was formally opened by the Rt Hon Simon Burns MP, accompanied by RIA Director General Jeremy Candfield and Mack Brooks Exhibitions Chairman Stephen Brooks.

As well as other various networking receptions, this year saw the first ever Railtex Awards Dinner which brought together and acknowledged excellence within the organisations that exhibited across the three days. The ceremony was presented by Phil Tufnell and Garry Richardson at The Copthorne Tara Hotel where guests were treated to a three course dinner, live entertainment and networking.

For the first time, the DDRF also attended, along with other members of the forum, including some of our exclusive clients within the rail industry. The Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum (DDRF) represents over 100 businesses across the East Midlands including ourselves and some of our clients.

The final day was supported by the National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering (NSARE) and Young Railway Professionals (YRP), who promoted the rail industry as a career choice to those leaving college or university. Organisations advertised their current skills needs, plus gave attendees an opportunity to network informally. Among the exhibitors were Invensys Rail and Signalling Solutions.

Daniel commented on the event “It was vital that we attended this event to prove how serious we are about becoming a real front-runner in rail recruitment. There was a real buzz throughout the day and we met some really influential people.”

Holly added “Railtex has played a key part in solidifying our existing relationships and has even secured us new business. It was great to meet so many other likeminded individuals and to see the passion they have for the rail industry.”
