Improving the employability skills of young people
In supporting local schools and colleges within Derbyshire and the surrounding area, Ford & Stanley recently joined forces with Rolls Royce to deliver an ‘interview techniques’ workshop to over 200 school leavers from Derby Moor Community Sports College.
The ‘Post 16 Careers Event’ was held at the University of Derby with students attending a variety of workshops to better prepare themselves for the world of work, from exploring opportunities within the local labour market to CV writing and team building exercises. The event was supported by a wide range of local employers, from Bombardier UK to the British Armed Forces.
This event was coordinated by Faye Peapell, Careers Volunteering and Mentoring Manager at Derby Moor Community Sports College in the aim to effectively promote various ‘post 16’ pathways, reinforcing employer’s expectations and how young people can best sell themselves within a professional environment.
As one of 12 key presenters across six core subjects, Ford & Stanley attended this event in partnership with the Enterprise for Education (E4E), a public private sector organisation that aims to link employers with schools and students in a bid to create a better understanding of career opportunities and improve employability skills.
