Rams manager delivers a rousing team talk
Derby County manager, Gary Rowett visited the new Ford & Stanley GENIUS Academy as part of our Fulfilling Your Potential team event.
Widely regarded as one of the best young managers in the country, Gary spoke candidly about how his career has developed, both as a player and as a manager; citing the values and integrity that have served him so well to date.
The event, led by Ford & Stanley’s head performance coach, Andy Duncan and co-ordinated by GENIUS Academy head, Angela Bell, was designed to help inspire employees to develop their own ‘A game’ and push their careers forward.
As Gary talked about his own approach for getting the best out of his players and staff, the team were struck by just how close the worlds of sport and business really are, as Ford & Stanley office & projects manager, Hannah Dimond, observed:
“Listening to Gary talking about his management philosophy, what he put in to become a top professional and what he now expects from his players and staff in terms of personal effort and living the values, you realise that football is really no different to what we do here at Ford & Stanley.”
As Gary took questions from the team – inevitably interspersed with questions about his plans for Derby County’s next season from our Rams fans in the audience; which he skilfully negotiated without revealing any secrets – he articulated his points with such calmness and clarity that it was easy to see why he is so highly rated in the world of football.
Recruitment consultant, Danielle Peach commented, “At the end of the day it’s like our own business strap-line says, ‘it’s all about people’. I think he’d be a brilliant manager no matter what industry he turned his hand to.”
The whole team at Ford & Stanley would like to thank Gary for his time and wish him and Derby County every success for the coming season.
