Opening of our new offices

10 February 2014

We have opened our headquarters in Derby after recently moving into new premises on Pride Park.

Ford & Stanley, which provides specialist recruitment and supporting talent consultancy services, has appointed Phillip Machell from global recruitment business Michael Page as its Interim Managing Director to open the new offices and oversee a rapid expansion in the firm’s recruitment services.

Mr Machell, who has over 25 years’ experience in the sector, will focus the company on rail and general manufacturing, and said that Derby is the perfect UK base for them.

He said: “I have had a pan-European outlook in recent years and honestly cannot think of a better place for rail and engineering specialists to be based than Derby.

“We looked all over England at various locations, but Derby has such a strong heritage in these areas, has some outstanding businesses in these sectors and is of course a centre for rail excellence. It feels like the perfect fit.”

Chairman, Peter Schofield, who heads up the firm’s HR & talent consultancy services which include HR, employer brand development and occupational health, is delighted to have recruited someone of Mr Machell’s experience to lead Ford & Stanley’s growth.

He said: “Front-line recruitment services and talent consultancy are complimentary disciplines and the two go absolutely hand in hand as they enable an employer to receive true employment lifecycle support; particularly important in the skills-short market employers will increasingly be experiencing as the economy continues to grow.

“Recruiting someone of Phill’s experience of international as well as local talent markets will be a massive advantage both to our clients and Ford & Stanley itself as we push forward with our own expansion”

“As part of our wider business consulting services we have spent many years supporting employers in acquiring, developing and retaining key talent through three recessions and subsequent recoveries. We have learned many lessons from this and understand perfectly the challenges that employers face in a recovering economy.  This experience enables us to not only provide the front line recruitment services, but also how employers can make themselves more attractive to in-demand workers through our talent consultancy”. He added.

Ford & Stanley, which also has a base in London and a new office opening in Hong Kong later in the year, is predicting strong trading in the region throughout 2014 and beyond.
